Day Two
I woke up early the next morning to find the sun already shining brightly at 6:00 am on this beautiful island. After getting ready, I headed downstairs for breakfast and was warmly greeted by the other ladies on the trip. As we chatted, our conversation turned to creativity and expanding the mind. I shared a quote that resonated with me: “The human mind, once stretched to a new idea, never goes back to its original dimension,” by Oliver Wendell Holmes. This quote perfectly captured my sentiments about being in St. Kitts and my passion for travel.
For me, stepping foot into any country, city, or state expands my mind in countless positive ways. I feel incredibly blessed and joyful to experience new places and cultures—it’s truly enriching.
At noon, a group of us ladies had the opportunity to visit a town center in Basseterre for some shopping. We boarded our bus, enjoying the informative commentary from our driver about the island along the way. Upon arrival, we found the center charming, although it was dominated by jewelry stores and souvenir shops, which became a bit repetitive after a while. Nonetheless, my aunt and I managed to capture a lovely photo together in front of a ‘St. Kitts’ sign, adding a fun memory to the day.
During our exploration, we stumbled upon a coffee shop where I decided to order a green machine smoothie, which turned out to be the perfect refreshment for the occasion.

It’s worth noting that the island of St. Kitts is humid and hot, with temperatures that might surprise visitors. Even during what locals consider the lowest temperatures, the weather can still feel quite hot. Keep in mind that this observation was made during an April trip, so if you’re planning your own visit, be mindful of the weather conditions to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience!
One of my absolute favorite moments happened after our shopping excursion. Our driver took us up a mountain that overlooked the island, offering breathtaking views of the divide between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Oh my goodness, I wish I could relive that view over and over again. The scenery was absolutely stunning! I felt like I was on top of the world, gazing at the mesmerizing waves and the vibrant blues of the ocean. It was a moment I never wanted to end.
Later that afternoon, the women from group #2 arrived in St. Kitts, and everything started coming together seamlessly. That evening, we had a meet and greet where everyone had the chance to introduce themselves and get acquainted with our tribe for the weekend. The atmosphere was warm and safe, allowing women to share personal stories and experiences. This created a beautiful, God-ordained connection that set the tone for the rest of the trip, raising the bar for our experience together.
